What Is Yoga?

YOGA is an ancient Indian tradition that works to integrate the mind, body and spirit.

The word "YOGA" means "UNION" - union between the person and the divine, between one person and another, between a person and the earth. Yoga offers us guidance to live a fulfilling, healthy life. Give it a try; you might find the happiness you have been seeking.

Yoga is not a religion; it is a way of deepening the connection you feel to those around you. Many people find that yoga supports their spiritual/religious practice and allows them to explore their own faith more deeply.

Physical Benefits of Yoga

Most people who begin yoga experience its positive benefits within just a few classes. You might discover you are sleeping better or that nagging pain in your hip is gone. Perhaps you feel steadier on your feet and can tie your shoes comfortably again. There are many ways yoga will help you body:

  • Flexibility
  • Strength
  • Weight Loss
  • Endurance
  • Muscle and Joint Pain Relief
  • Improved Balance and Coordination

Other Benefits of Yoga

It is hard to quantify the non-physical impact of yoga - many people describe feeling less anxious and relief from depression and its symptoms; others notice their anger levels drop and their relationships improve. Others have noticed a sense of peace or a deepening relationship to the divine.

  • Relaxation
  • Detoxification and Internal Cleansing
  • Stress Relief
  • Deeper breathing, leading to a calmer, more peaceful life
  • Spiritual Connectedness
